Visual Regression Tests

The main feature stopping our agency from moving all the management to MainWP is the Visual Regression Testing feature. After running updates, flag anything that has visually changed on the front end.Competitors are adding this. See wpboom.comhexowatch.comdiffy.websiteWPBuffsFlywheelSteadyWPWP RemoteThere are Javascript libraries that do it as well.

    Am I missing something?

/wp-admin/admin.php?page=Extensions-Mainwp-Regression-Testing-Extension seems to be just that feature? Or has this been added just recently?

Hi@Raphael, yes, the Regression Testing extension is something we developed. It’s not just for visual regression, but it also allows you to detect code changes.

Where is this extension? Is it coming soon?

This is something that is realistically required on this platform now as standard. On just one agency platform we mentor in we’ve seen dozens of agencies move away from MainWP in lieu of providers that offer this service.

As an agency we really need this - good to see it in progress. is there a timeline on this? It would really help MainWP step up :)

It would be nice to have the option to use changedetection.io
which is open source / cheap

This could help us to use automatical updates. Without testing is that very risky.

I would like to agree with that. I really like MainWP and it saves me a lot of time, but visual regression tests are really lacking.

Especially when updating page builders like Elementor or Bricks, where things can go wrong, I'm always looking at the site before and after in two tabs. Often also several subpages. That takes time...
